The Shipman's tale

The Shipman's tale is the 15th tale of Canterbury Tales.
The tale talks about a misery merchant whose wife enjoys revelry and socialising, on which she spends much, so she has debts. One day, a young monk, who is a friend of the merchant, goes to the merchant's home to stay with them. The wife confesses at the monk that she doesn't love her husband, after she asks the monk to pay her debts. The monk accepts but on one condition: she has to go to bed with him. She accepts, so they sleep together. The day after, the monk borrows the money from the merchant and says that the money are for the poor but he gives the money to the wife. After, the merchant asks his money to the monk and he says that his wife has the money and she hide it under the bed, so the merchant finds out her wife.

Mothers get less sleep than fathers

A new study confirms that moms get less sleep than fathers. The researchers discovered that having children in the house leads to sleep deprivation in many mothers. Motherhood reduced the number of hours a mother slept each night and this had an adverse effect on mothers' energy levels and tiredness during the day. The fathers' sleep remained unaffected. Sleeping less increases the risk of diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease and depression.

Hogwarts

        Description of a picture

This is a coloured photo and it shows Hogwarts' castle, a school for wizards.
In the background there are rocks, at the top there is the castle and on the left you can see hills. In the foreground there are the wizards on the boats and at the bottom there is a lake. The students are going to the castle by boats. The atmosphere is dark but happy because the students are going "home". I like the picture because represents a scene of my favourite saga.

Martin Luther King Jr.

Martin Luther King was an American Baptist minister, activist, humanitarian and leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement. He was born on January 15th 1929 in Atlanta. He is the best known for his role in the advancement of civil right using nonviolent civil disobedience based on his Christian beliefs. In 1963 he organised a civil rights march in Washington DC. Here he made his famous speech "I have a dream" in which he called for an end to racism in the United States. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 to honour his courageous work. He was assassinated in 1968 when he was in the town of Memphis, Tennessee. His death created a stronger desire to continue with the civil rights movement. People remember him every year in the United States: Martin Luther King Jr. Dayt is celebrated on the third Monday in January.

The Holocaust

Stephen Ambrose said:
'The Holocaust was the most evil crime ever committed.'

I chose this quotation because many innocent people died, even if they struggled for survival. There is nothing that compares to the Holocaust.

This image represents in that conditions lived the people.

In this video there are many children that died for the Holocaust and it shows their conditions in the concentration camps.

It is one of the most important soundtrack about the Holocaust.
